Malaysia Productivity Corporation's Journey Par Excellence volume one

The starting point is the year 1958 whence the idea of setting up an institution, with the assistance of the International Labour Organization (ILO), was mooted out. An expert team from ILO was invited to give practical demonstration to representatives of government, employers, trade unions, and other interested groups. These practical demonstration on productivity projects would show tangible improvement through cost saving, output increase, or process simplification as being some examples. This e-book will take the readers through the initial set up period before commencement of the National Productivity Council Incorporation Act 1966, growth during the first decade, expansion in the second decade, and maturity through the third decade. Some important highlight and events such as the National Productivity Campaign 1982, the 20th anniversary, and the QCC and TQM conventions are also discussed. NPC'S involvement in the hotel industry led to its ownership of a commercially run Hotel Dayang, which was modelled on the concept of Hotel Schools in Austria. Hotel Dayang, later on renamed NPC Hotel, as a component of the Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management, from its inception its closure in 1997, was clearly self sufficient, generating yearly nett excess of income over expenditure of around RM650,000,00.This was the pledge given to the government when seeking budget approval for the setting up of the Hotel Institute project.
